  6. KAKASI is the language processing filter to convert Kanji characters
  7. to Hiragana, Katakana or Romaji(1) and may be helpful to read Japanese
  8. documents.
  9.  
  10. The name "KAKASI" is the abbreviation of "kanji kana simple
  11. inverter" and the inverse of SKK "simple kana kanji converter" which
  12. is developed by Masahiko Sato at Tohoku University. The most entries
  13. of the kakasi dictionary is derived form the SKK dictionaries.  If you
  14. have some interests in the naming of "KAKASI", please consult to
  15. Japanese-English dictionary. :-)

  17. The kit of KAKASI includes C programs and Several kind of
  18. dictionaries. The large dictionary "kakasidict" may be provided as
  19. another file "kakasidict.YYMMDD.gz" since it is often revised and
  20. really LARGE.
